Dividing line is 1982, before then is copper after is zinc core. Unless you're seriously into error coins, there are really only a few to look for of high value. As stated, some folks are saving the copper, but currently it cannot legally be melted, in the future it will be to expensive to melt and separate the alloy, why I don't bother saving anymore other than mint state rolls. Right now, keep your best for a couple collections, look for those special error coins.
