I purchased this 1862 $1.00 at a show a few days ago. When I looked it up in my book I found that there were some rare varieties, so I naturally looked to see if mine was rare.

I read about the National Bank Note Co. stamped above the bottom border twice, so I looked to see if mine had it, but it didn't. It had National Bank Note Co. stamped once, and then American Bank Note Co.

I saw that if one with these two stamps was a series #1 (which mine is a series #76) it would be very rare.

What do you think mine is worth being a series # 76?

I'm pretty sure yours is Fr. 17a....series 1-166 with left serial number overprinted on denomination.

Couldn't say about value, although Fr-17a is the most common as a type.
