Ok here is my update. I have pretty much scoured throughout my copy of Roberts, but have not found a match. Since you found this coin in Charente, the most obvious possibility would be a coin minted in Angouleme, but I couldn't anything with that distinctive reverse that you coin has. It really looks like early French feudal to me, but I similarly couldn't find anything with the correct rev. Maybe it is a monogram? I'm just not sure...
