It is silver and has been well clipped. I have not found a similar coin online yet.
Can anybody ID this please.

@C-N, first welcome to CCF. Second, that is pretty tough, although we have one or two other folks here who are pretty good at figuring out this stuff. By the way, your pics are exceedingly good for a first-time poster--no need to be gentle, it is the truth!



Ok here is my update. I have pretty much scoured throughout my copy of Roberts, but have not found a match. Since you found this coin in Charente, the most obvious possibility would be a coin minted in Angouleme, but I couldn't anything with that distinctive reverse that you coin has. It really looks like early French feudal to me, but I similarly couldn't find anything with the correct rev. Maybe it is a monogram? I'm just not sure...
