Too many coins, mintages not low enough, themes being milked (Superman, Star Trek, etc.), the days of RCM are done imo. I used to be a long time customer but this year I have completely given up hope for any change to the current model.

Meaningless issues to the tune of one every two days. A total joke!

I voted the last. It seems that the RCM is more of an advertising agency than a government Mint. There are some pieces produced I would like to have but, most are way out of my sights. Tastefullness has long been out the window. I expect VR coins soon.

They have some beautiful designs, but I can't stomach the crass commercialization of so many of their coins.

Just trinkets and overproduced, meaningless themes.. I've completely lost interest in their stuff.

The RCM have relegated themselves to the Walmart of world mints. No offense to Walmart.

Pacificoin has said it for me. Could have said exactly the same thing regarding the Royal Australian Mint, and would have got exactly the same opinion from me. Nevertheless, they will continue doing as they have done, until the profits dry up, which probably will not happen any time soon. Their business model continues to yield profits. Excellent product quality and packaging, but a poor investment in most cases when buying as new issue. Why? Far too much new and different product issued for frivolous reasons. If you like this stuff, stand back and buy in the aftermarket. Pick and choose for yourself what you happen to like, and enjoy without the new issue value loss. Perth Mint is a little different. PM is more of a bullion coin issuer, and so attracts a slightly different sort of collector. Just be careful to buy their products at closer to the bullion value.

I like the variety but the premiums on things are way to high.

Bit Jekyll and Hyde for me. A few coins are well done, though often over priced. BUT, so many are ill conceived and nothing more than trinkets. Witness the shaped, sculptured and figurine coins. They may be art but they are not coins IMO. Absent the monarch and a denomination, would an average person call them coins? I doubt it. I would have voted for the last option but sadly, every time I think they have hit the bottom, they dig just a bit deeper. I have some Mint branded toys. A teddy bear and a yoyo come to mind. Years ago, they were sold as toys for a couple of bucks. Today, they would be sold in silver as limited edition, "Mint first" coins for hundreds of dollars. If the 2013 Ducks of Canada collection were to be issued in 2017, there would be no coins, just a silver duck call with a $50 denomination.

Coin collecting is just a hobby. It shouldn't be overwhelming or a feeling that you have to buy every single coin that the mint pumps out. You buy what you like or can afford. It should be fun and enjoyable. Just because the mint puts out so many coins every year, you're in no obligation to purchase them. Remember you are in control and have a choice. It's not a competition with the mint. Have fun. :)

While I haven't bought any NCLT in years, it was what got me into coin collecting in the first place. I got a $20 Calgary Olympic coin back in 1986 for Christmas, and regularly received NCLT as gifts for years afterwards. Once I started my career and making some decent money, I branched out into other things. Last NCLT I was into was the $20 for $20 series, but even that series towards the end wasn't doing too much for me.
So while I can't see myself buying NCLT again soon, if ever, it did lead me to other nice, shiny things like bullion, silver dollars and world crowns.

Some really well done designs - but it's getting harder to hit a home run of late...all themes exhausted Not interested in odd shaped "coins" - like the half Stanley cup or giant superman shield as seen most recently. Collectors will always be standing by the sidelines-waiting to see what comes next regardless-

All the comments above don't show alot of positivity towards the mint. What is happening to our "world class", "1st" to do this or that, mint? It seems to me that in the past, the RCM was a benchmark for the rest of the world. Now we are flooded to this point. I have not bought from the mint for NCLT in a while either. I did just order the Stanley cup quarters 10 pack, the Vimy 5 pack and the Maple Leafs loonies 5 pack. But would not have ordered from them for any single item I listed. The 3 for 1,at face value, was what brought me back. It will probably be a while before I order from the mint again. I would like to support them, but it doesn't work for me often.

You really can't fault the RCM in their marketing, as I mentioned before talking to RCM staff at the latest RCNA, it is very simple we make them, you buy them, who is to blame. Almost all recent issues are going to be heavily discounted in a few months yet about 2/3 of issues are still sold out. The recent sculpture coin is perfect example of what is wrong with the RCM policy a few years ago a 1300 mintage would not make it out of tier MC, yet still available stop purchasing is the only answer just tired of losing 40 to 50% on every purchase.
