I tracked the front to the CH'ING Dynasty. The back of the coin does not seem to align with any emperor periods. Comes close but no luck.

The side with the four characters for the emperor is considered the obverse, or front. In this case, the characters are Dao Guang tong bao. the Daoguang emperor reigned from 1821 to 1850. He is called "Tao-Kuang" in the Krause catalogues. The mintmark on the reverse is for the DoNGChuan (TuNGCh'uan) mint, Yunnan province. Catalogue references: Krause KM/C 27-2, Harthill 22.641 I believe.
