Hi everyone,

My husband and I are new to "pocket change collecting", we are not all familiar with the lingo, so please be kind!! We are learning.

We currently have come across a 1984 Penny no mint mark (not unusual, it seems), it looks to be magnetic, on the obverse Lincoln looks to have a double lobe and the reverse has been stamped twice with the Lincoln Memorial or double die? Not quite sure. With that being said any info about the penny or the value of this particular penny would be much appreciated. Hopefully we will be posting more on some other coins we have come across. Thanks in advance!! Stacie

First off not a doubled ear variety, that actually is the correct shape. On the reverse, that is most likely glue that has the reverse image of another coin. If you were to soak that coin in pure acetone (not polish remover)that will probably dissolve.

The 1984 has a distinct second image

I can certainly see why you would ask. Keep searching. We have folks report neat finds almost every day.
