Would like to see a commemorative coin of a cultural Canadian icon, rather than all these silly designs and trinkets that the Mint is focusing on. Would you buy one?

I do not buy mint products much, but I agree that the commemoratives should relate to something relevant to Canada-whether a person, place, things or event.

If a Gord or Hip coin or coin series is done I would like to see all profits go to cancer research.

RCM would never donate profits to anything other than bonuses

I think it would be more likely that he'd be on something from Canada Post.

RCM has never commemorated any Canadian musicians ever correct?
There has been many they could have - Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, Anne Murray...Celine, Joni, Rush, Leonard Cohen...Oscar Peterson, Guess Who, many greats - but nothing...
Nor have I seen such musician commemorative coins from other foreign mints.
My guess is too many licensing complexities...

The Royal Australian Mint occasionally produces product that commemorates Australian numismatic history.

Coins for coin collectors.

If RCM want to expand sales outside of Canada, significant World historic events could be commemorated. Wise marketing choices on subject material a necessity.

Other threads here in the CCF suggest that they need to improve product quality, re milk spotting and less than nice toning.
