It's more than a year away from the release, but the CCAC and CFA are reviewing these designs now. Coin news has published the designs

http://www.coinnews.net/2017/10/18/...oin-designs/

for anyone interested.

There's certainly a wide variety among these choices, but a good number of them don't look like they would translate well to a concave surface -- the perspective is wrong for faces and trajectories. Of all of these, I like the footprint (265) the best for its simplicity, though I would make the lunar phases more accurate (less eclipse-like) and extend the dusty surface closer to the rim.

Some interesting designs, for sure, but my excitement for this series is still being muted by the decision to use a curved shaped.

165, 267, 273, 294, 297 and 308 are my favorites. Some good designs there.

Wow half of those are terrible.

167, 294, 328 are nice designs. 308 at first I was indifferent too, but looking at it a second time it is growing on me quickly. A very interesting design that I could see becoming a favorite and being very well received.

277, 346 are okay.

Some of these designs instantly catch my eye and are very interesting. Some of them are just not it. I do hope that they make a wise decision...

What I really like here is how tastes can differ. Somehow the design of the footstep didn't fascinate me. I'd expect to find a similar design again with the commemoration of the woodlouse. My favorites right now are the middle one on the top row and the second from the left on the third row.
Rest in Peace

The good news is I didn't hate any of them. That alone makes it worth waiting for.

How bad were the designs that didn't make the cut? I don't see anything that'll make me want make a purchase.

The footprint design caught my eye. Simple, unique.

I think 308 might be my favorite. 343 is a close second.

#343 looks to me like they stole the image from Awkward Family Photos.
