Hey guys,

I've got a new interest in finding coins, And I've always wanted to metal detect so let's pair the two ;)
I heard the best way is to go to the beach so my questions really are..
1) do I go early when the tide is out and search wet sand? Or do I go whenever and search dry sand?
2) because I'm new I was hoping for something around £200 to get me started, dosnt have to be incredible, just to get me started to the game (I'm 21 so I have time to get better stuff;)
So what would people recomend? ^_^

to CCF. A lot of members recommend ACE 250 and 350 as well as Mine-Lab,I think that is what it is called. Also look here https://www.coincommunity.com/numis...or&sa=Search

Hi SamH, I'm using a Garrett AT Pro and the White's underwater detector/beach detector Surfmaster II. The last one was a used one an was only £220,-
You can also take a look at this websites tips: https://www.metaldetector.com/learn...rs-for-beach

If I may ask, what part of England are you from? England has quite some history. Especially the Medieval era is very interesting!

The best MineLab you can afford. Amazingly deep. My dig friends have all gone to MineLab because they are sick of me walking behind them and hitting deep silver.

I recommend to dig in wet sand as it's easier to work with when digging. Beach sand is quite hard to work with when it's dry due to its 'round' grains, so when it's wet it will stick a bit together, making your life less hard. Anyway, please feel free to experiment a bit and find out what's best for you!

I would recommend a shovel! I started out with a store bought mini gardening shovel and got sick of it real quick,Because the handle kept folding on me. So I built my own. It's not pretty,But it works.
