Greetings
I've found a 1992D penny in a roll I just got from the bank.
As you can see in the pics, it has some of its edges missing.
can anyone help me in what causes this, is it worth anything, what is the green stuff in the missing parts

Thanks

You have a badly corroded cent. The zinc core under the thin copper plating is very corrosive. If the plating gets cut or scratched exposing the zinc then water or moisture will react to the zinc eating it away. I can't see the picture well but the green stuff is probably the copper corroding. Copper turns green when it corrodes.

Well welcome to the group. This is the right place to be if you "have the bug". Keep asking those questions.

Btw, the zinc corrosion is actually aided by the copper plating, which steals electrons from the zinc, reducing it to a zinc compound (often zinc oxide). A poor choice for a coinage metal.
