AE4 from Constantine the Great, with the inscribed legend: D.S.C. Cross Obv: Emperors silhouette facing right Legend: CON [..] Rev: D.S.C. Cross Mass: 1,99 gram Diameter: 17mm
@Archeo1982, just so that I can learn here...on the rev of this coin, the letters DSC and the cross were stamped into the coin well after it was minted, right? Could be someone's intials. The cross looks floriated to me so perhaps this extra adornment occurred a long time ago. Is that your opinion too or do the counterstamps look more recent to you?
"If you climb a good tree, you get a push." -----Ghanaian proverb
"The danger we all now face is distinguishing between what is authentic and what is performed." -----King Adz
Because of his reputation among the catholic church. As the first Christian emperor, according to the catholic history that is, he's seen as a kind of Saint. I think the letters are short for Deus Sanctus Christi"
