I'm looking for a bit more info on soft stair types as this coin is full stairs but a lot softer look then normal

That one doesn't look to be Full Steps to me.

By "soft", are you referring to the Reverse of 1938? As far as I know, that's only a thing for 1939 nickels (specifically 1939-D).
