Great checking of the seller! I go into really deep checking like that when I have time. Sometimes I am watching several auctions, between other activities, OR I get in on an auction at the last moment, and don't have time to investigate. I didn't connect any dots, or contact any bidders/previous buyers... but I did give the dots to ebay's safe harbor. I highly recommend others do the same on this seller, and any others found taking advantage of ebay and it's members. It helps keep us all just a little bit safer. Quote:220233748036220234119802220234072402I think these should be looked at seriously. (There are a few completed, and this guy is just getting started!) The seller recently bought a great deal of pennies here. 160232326379200199354704 (6 purchases) Then he bought a bank roller... 380010148383Now he is selling pennies as "bank rolled", not as "seller rolled". Pretty easy to connect these dots. I can't say he "searched" the coins, but it is pretty clear from his deception that that statement cannot likely be trusted. Why would he post the end coins, when he wrapped them himself, unless he wanted to mislead. Just so you know, this info is circulating coin collector forums. I thought you should know, as did other members. So you might get more reports... Thanks for your help. Dave

I asked seller a question! We'll see how he answers... Quote: How long ago were these coins rolled? Do you know what bank rolled them?
Thanks! Dave

That brings me to another way to determine if you want to do business with a seller...
Ask well thought out questions before bidding. I am not saying 'trick questions', but in a way that is exactly what they are because you already know how he should be answering. You can tell alot from direct interaction, especially when you know more than you let on.
Off topic, but another good test: Do they accept PayPal? In my experience, if they don't, they are often trying to shield themselves from something. PayPal makes serious promises to protect the buyer. This makes them rabid enforcers towards the seller. Bad sellers learn this quickly when challenged on the subject of their honesty, and will quickly withdraw the PP option. Seen it too many times to ignore it!
Now back to the thread topic! What was that anyway?!? JK

chrsb, I believe I will be able to document your "dots"! I "won" 12 rolls, (the last two items listed)), from 310porsheguy, today. It shouldn't take long to get here. They are coming from MAlibu, CA, just down the coast from LA, a few miles. I will know if this is the "last wheat to be harvested", by me, at least. Dick

If one could "score" some 1909-1930 Wheats this way.......then I'd be a believer in the "unsearched Wheats" phrase.......but if they're all in the 1930's through 1950's......yup.....not buying it !... (no pun intended!)

chrsb, and the gang, I got the dozen rolls today, and have inventoried two, so far. The results: I got my "wheats" today from 310porscheguy. I have inventoried two rolls, so far, and have gotten a pretty good cross section of "P-D-S"'s. The oldest so far is 1930-p. Nine more rolls to check, and I'll let you know how they all turned out. Coins are, (so far), in pretty good shape, ie vg-AU. Dick

Chrsb, you don't think we were "bumping-heads" by any chance? The first two I fot cheap enough, but the last I had to bring out the big guns!:-))) It was worth it tho, as I pulled the FIRST 1933 wheat. Out of the thousands I have, it is the first! Dick

Dick,
No, I got some rolls from another seller, I am trying to test the waters on a few sellers to see what they have without spending a ton of money. I will try and post my results this weekend, I got a few nice ones to take pics of too, I will try and get that done also.

chrsb, just went and looked at Billiec310 sales items and one thing jumped out at me. On the 2nd page, there were listings for a 1909 and teens roll,a 1920 thru 1929 roll and a 1930 thru 1939 roll. Now these were listed as "UNSEARCHED". My question is, how does he know what they are if he has not gone thru them. I find it hard to understand.

Maybe he means unsearched by him, though that does mean that they were searched at one time, maybe by whomever he buys from.

I think they are ALL full of crap.
The last one though got to me as he outright lied. He buys a bag of wheats, a bank rolling set, and then has the nerve to pretend the rolls are old rolls that just turned up.
Sorry, but if the oldest I found was 1930, I'd be PO'd.

Jim,
Ya he just started those rolls this year, I have not bought any of them as they are to much in my opinion. It is hard to believe last year the rolls would sell for 69 per 6 and not sell some weeks. I remember pulling out 12-S, 13-S, 14-S, etc and did not think it was a big deal as I did not buy a lot of circulated rolls then and thought it was normal to get those.
Dick,
I tell you what, send me your address and I will send you a roll that will blow your mind, you have some of the worst luck in the world if a 1930 is the best you have ever pulled from a roll, I will change that for you!
