Hello, Been reading for a long time, but this will be my first post. I mostly collect US cents and quarters, but went to an estate sale today and asked if they had any coins. They didn't have really any quarters to speak of, but they had a few US coins and a lot of foreign coins, and some circulated foreign currency. I asked how much he wanted, and the guy said another person had offered him $40 for it the day before (the seller declined that), but that he'd sell it to all to me for $40 today if I wanted. I think it was a pretty good deal, but wanted to see what other people thought. There were only a few US coins, and a few 1971-1980 mint sets, but a few pounds of foreign currency, so I'm going to post just what stood out to me. If anyone wants higher res shots, I can take some, but to be efficient I just put them all on my scanner bed. I figure that the Morgan and the Columbian are probably worth the most of the lot. The 1819 Britania (necklace?) I've never seen before. I am also not sure about the 25 cent Canadian on the 3rd row. As you can see, it's in relief and reversed. Is this some kind of die or something someone was forging coins with? It's a bit odd. It's "dated" 1909, but I believe it is aluminum. Not really sure about any of the foreign coins here, only that the greek coins were glued into that holder and have glue residue on the back of them. The Indian heads were all in a small holder and verdigris seems to have infected all of them. Anything that can be done about those to make them look a little better, or are they basically a total loss? Some of the foreign currency which was in "better" circulated shape. The 25 Dinars with Saddam on it is probably my favorite of the bunch, though I doubt any of them have any value. Just thought they were neat. Rich

I think it was a good purchase, for sure! Maybe post some of the best individual coins w/ closer pics in the proper forum for opinions.

I would have probably easily paid $40 for the top row alone, so you definitely did quite well!

The holed coin in the first lot is British Ionia: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces16149.htmlThe Ionian islands were originally owned by the Venetian republic, but then transferred to France during the Napoleonic wars, then were granted to Britain as spoils in 1815. They were allowed to join the newly independent Greece in 1864. Assuming it's genuine, it might be the most valuable in the lot; without the hole it would probably be worth almost as much as the rest combined. Unfortunately, as is common with obscure rarities, catalogue value does not equate to what you could expect from ebay. Still, you did extremely well on this lot! Lots of very nice silver and some fun world coins too!

The Morgan is likely a $40 coin itself.
That's one I would like to see in greater detail, most especially the lower reverse.

The first six coins on the right pretty much pay for the $40. The Marshall Islands 10 dollar coin is interesting. Are you sure the canadian piece is in relief and reversed?

Oh, you did quite well, values definitely $150-200 of coins. Some of those corroded ones may do well to soak for a few months in mineral oil and see if stuff loosen, no telling what's under some!
