I found this yesterday CRH through a circulated bankroll from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. This is not glue, it's grease. It's a pretty impressive Struck Through. The grease must harden up badly to look like this.

It may be struck through cloth or something like that.

Not cloth. Maybe paper. Cloth leaves lines from the weave of the material.

Coop, thank you very much for the nice demonstration on the Struck Through Cloth. I never thought of it being struck through paper actually. I'll do some research and see what I can find out. :)

I definitely agree with you Coop. Thank you for the help. It's gladly appreciated. It's my 2nd of my weirdest Struck Through ever.

Grease doesn't harden like that - I saw that coin on ebay, or at least one that looked like it!

So Mark, this can literally be possibly some object that got in the way of the striking then? It's a very unusual Struck Through.

Keep in mind also that the grease found on the dies probably have grit in them from contamination of other things mixed into the grease. Thus the texture often seen on the end results on the coins.

Thank you jbuck! Coop, I think it's what you said. Probably grit and grease combined. Thank you again for the help. If you wanted to, you can use my images to make a demonstration. :-)
