Hey everyone. Just found this 1968 Lincoln Penny and it is in great shape and rather shiny. I was wondering what the grade and value would be estimated on it. Also, is this is a proof strike?

It is not a proof strike it would need to have an S below the date. With over 1.7 billion minted it's a very common coin. Appears to be a weak strike (Lincoln looks a little flat)
At most I would say MS 63
Keep looking
And to CCF!

Nice find!!

Some traces of wear, the rims tell a story. Highly worn obverse 1916 master hub produced some really poor dies in 1968. This is an LDS coin. A new master was introduced in 1969 to fix the problems - most notably, the obverse motto merging into the rims.

On this coin - TRUST and the rim above it show signs of serious die fatigue. The pictures are over-saturated, turn off the flash and try again with some good room light. Based on what I see....

Thank you BadThad! I had not noticed that until now. Is it worth anything other than face value in its current condition? The second picture you have is similar to the obverse of my coin.

Value would be minimal.

Now that I look again, it appears like someone polished the obverse.

Could that cause any of the defects of the lettering or is that strictly a die issue?
