I'm usually quite conservative, it's better than a VF Too much detail left and feathering is solid. A few major contact marks but the rims look good, XF45-50. may even go AU53
Spend time in an older blue whitman folder by chance?

AU for sure. I just hate to assign a number value unless I can see it better than that. Hairlines, carbon spots, Verdigris stains these are all things that love to hide in plain sight. BUT not to take away from your coin...

BadThad, what scale you using? Seriously, never heard of an AU(50--59) in MS(60-70) category?

A low AU 50.... Wheat stalks on reverse show more wear than I like for a AU, borderline VF 45 IMO... Nice coin though....
