1946-S Cent With Inverted S? - Coin Community Forum

tryingmybest Valued Member United States 90 Posts	Posted 11/07/2017 10:38 pm Hello I've been looking at this coin for quite a while and am unable to conclude if it is an inverted S? I've included pictures from multiple angles. It looks like rounded serif (trumpet) is at the bottom and the flat serif at the top- consistent with an inverted S mint mark. tryingmybest Valued Member United States 90 Posts	Posted 11/07/2017 10:55 pm I guess I'm ignorant to the "ball" as I have been identifying the bottom as the ball? Mid magnified pictures (#3 and #4) are taken upright and upside down to try and discern the serif differences. Can you help me understand why the one on the bottom in #3 and top in #4(inverted) are not the ball? Thank you for the help. Report this Post to the Staff

Yours is not, but here is an image showing the IMM so you can see just how much yours really does look like it, but can also see the subtle differences. Report this Post to the Staff
