I was CRH today looking for mostly halves or big dollars, but I always ask for anything old or weird in notes as well. I was at a bank and the teller mentioned she had 2's. I bough a hundred from various banks a week before so I was not really interested. She told me they were all brand new and I want them to be happy to see me every week or so when I come in looking for more coins (so I took them). The 2000 more came up when see initially told me she had the new 2's. I asked how many she had, and she had $84 there but said that there was a lot more in the vault. That's where the 2K number came up (not sure if its 2K face or 2K notes). The notes the teller gave me were mostly 2003 A series and 39 of the notes were consecutive numbers (with 10 missing in the middle). Do you all think I should try to go through all those notes? I figured there is not much value in a full stack of consecutive numbers unless there is something extra like a fancy serial number's or star note's (or being 1976 or earlier). Not sure if I want to anger a bank by depositing a ton of 2's either (though I will if I have to...lol). What's everyone think I should do?

Would it be possible to withdraw in the stacks of $2s, then scan the stacks w/o completely taking them apart making it easier for them to deposit later if you don't retain them?
Talk to them first and say you're interested but might want to deposit again. See what works best for them

I'm not sure. I was trying to figure out how to ask them if I could scan some before buying. I know they probably have a secure room in the back for bigger dollar transactions. Maybe I can purchase them, then quickly go through them in that room before leaving. Re-deposit what I don't want.

Errors or nice serials are possible. It sounds like you have a great relationship with that bank. I'd just scan them in the bank and immediately return any plain Jane's (or John's).

It was actually my 1st time at that branch, but I do have a great relationship with the branch near me. I had left my name & number there in case they got anything in and I got my 1st call yesterday. She told me they had a couple hundred in halves at the branch a town over. I went there to get grab them, but found out they had given them to someone else last Saturday. It turns out the tellers from the 2 branches are friends outside of work (& the teller by me does not keep my number with her 24/7...lol). I took $86 in $2's to get them out of both tellers draws. I got the $84 in new 2003A notes & 1 beat to death note from the other teller. I told her I would take it and a buy a coffee with it later which she was thrilled with. She also had $19.00 in halves that I grabbed as well (all clad). I think between the good relationship with her friend, getting the 2's out of their draws, as well as taking the halves they may have a few warm & fuzzy feelings for me right now. I left my name & number with them to get the direct call next time. The more I think about it I might get those remaining $2's to make sure those fuzzy feelings get cemented. I certainly am capable of messing up those feelings if I don't get it cemented soon...lol.

Its not hard to go through a couple thousand dollars if you put away your credit cards and start paying cash everywhere. You'll get some odd looks paying a dinner bill in a nice restaurant with 40 $2 bills, but they should take them.

I would take a couple hundred dollars worth and see if they seem like it's worth getting the lot. If not, keep what you bought and spend them (and update the $2 spending thread). This way, you don't have to upset the bank by re-depositing bills they want to get rid of.

I've been updating that spending $2's thread...If I deposit them back, it will be at a different bank all together. Going to stop by there to see if I can scan them somehow 1st. Hopefully I can and I can take it from there. Banks are closed tomorrow, so I might not get there until Monday/Tuesday. I will LYK here how everything works out.
