Plus it is on a star note. Sad about the tear.

Wow ... nice find indeed.

I have very limited knowledge of USA bills ... so in that regard my reply should be construed as an interested amateur ...

That said ... I am amazed that you found a start note (intended to replace the errors) with an error itself.

Despite the obvious tear noted above ... I have to believe that this note is worthy of a collection and as such look forward to the experts chiming in with their views.

Great note, even with the tear. Will check the currency resources and see if this is a known mismatch.

Worth anywhere from 100 to 200 $ in my opinion..... (And my opinion is probably worth didley squat!)

Heritage has auctioned two of them in the last few years. Both were in circulated "fine" condition and both brought strong money at auction....over 1000$ each!

Yours is significantly damaged but I'd still put it in the 100 to 200$ range. Online auction is probably the best way to go if you want to sell it and if you only have a dollar in it.

Nice find!

Best thing to do its get in a high quality currency holder to keep it from getting any more damage. Do not laminate it, tape the tear or do anything to try and fix it.

( Saw you over on WG - just tell me you didn't EMS it )

I found one recent sale @ HA: 2013 January 9-14 Currency FUN Signature Auction - Orlando #3521 Lot#17172 graded PMG Choice Fine 15 which sold for just over $1100. At the time they said "Only the second piece we have offered at auction for the series."

However, over at WheresGeorge we know of 29 of them by serial #. So they are out there. Good luck hunting!

The difference in the boldness of the serial #'s doesn't look right. Anyone else see this?
I haven't been into currency very long........just wondering.

No I didn't EMS it.

Unlike Oddcoins I LOOK at my bills before I mark them...

What's funny is he's a good friend of mine, the morning he marked the bill he found I got a frantic phone call asking me if I knew how to get ink out of a bill. Thankfully he was able to get 95% of the ink out but it did hurt the sale value.

And with only 29 known I'm leaning toward keeping it for a while, I know I can make a quick buck off of it but the odds are I'll never find another one again, and it only cost me a dollar so it's not going to hurt me to keep it.

IMO it's a tremendous find.
Seriously, send it in for authentication.
In spite of the tear I think there's big bucks there.

For certain the error is the serial number on the right since there was no B26710926 star note issued in series 2006.
http://www.mycurrencycollection.com...s/lookup.php

It's also a fairly small run of only 320,000.

Great find. I've only been checking notes for a few months now and can't really say for certain I've checked for that error. Of course I check for star notes so I wouldn't have spent that one even without noticing that great error.

So it's only half a star note well ¾, two stars one serial number.
