Hi,

I found these 2 nickels in change & wonder if they are true errors. can you tell me anything about them. one looks like it was not plated correctly at the mint & the other has a dark copper or purple look to it.

Both sides of each coin would help. From what I can see the bottom one maybe a acid dipped coin.

The 63 would be what some people call a blackie, the copper/nickel mix was not correct and has turned this color over time.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I will send another photo of the first coin later this afternoon with both sides. I recently got back into collecting when a kid at the grocery store gave me an 1887 Indian Head penny in change. He thought it was a fake coin, I was thrilled even though the coin was highly worn. He looked through the penny drawer, but no more. wow.

Nickels aren't plated. It's a solid alloy
