It is indeed Hungarian, a silver denar from the reign of a king named Wladislaus or some variant thereof (the title around the shield is "WLADISLAI. R. VNGAR. M.). The obverse figure is the Virgin Mary, patron saint of Hungary (VNGARI PATRONA).
These Hungarian denars were issued for over a century, and are one of the earliest series of coins to commonly bear a date. Your coin doesn't bear a date, so I suspect it's from very early in the series (pre-1500). As it turns out, Wladislaus II of Hungary ruled from 1490 to 1516.
Unfortunately, I don't have any reference books that cover this period very well, so I can't say for sure.

Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
