Hey All,

When you go get a bunch of rolls to go through, do the banks give you free wrappers for when you bring them back? I am just wondering if it is economical to buy them if the bank hates you for coming, getting 100 rolls and then bringing them back in a couple weeks :P

Let me know your experience :)

Most banks have them available for free if you ask for them. I normally would advise buying your coins from one bank and turning them in at another bank.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

If the bank don't give you enough wrappers , I've seen them in 99 cent stores ,I think there are 100 in a bag .

to CCF. When I used to CRH cents, one box per week I would ask for wrappers from my bank and other banks as well. They would give me at most 15. So I just go to the bay and bought 3 1000 count boxes that would last me awhile.

Banks were always willing to give you paper wrapper rolls, especially if they don't have a coin counting machine.

Less and less. Returning coins to a different bank and buying wrappers in bulk are smart strategies if you are still a CRH addict, which I fortunately no longer am.

If I had to wrap my CRH dumps, I'd quit doing it. My bank give out the wrappers free, but doesn't accept customer wrapped rolls...go figure! They have a machine, thankfully costs me nothing to get a box and return a canvas bag...they even mail me the deposit receipt. Now I do maybe 3 boxes a month of cents and nickels. If I were to do more things would change. Yes I do get my boxes from one branch, and dump at another. The tellers matter at each location.

What happened Coinfrog? I'm a new addict who is trying to figure out how I can go hunting more (and cover more ground) I'm grabbing $700 in halves tomorrow (I cant wait). I also have only done 1 test dump as I wanted to check the coin machine at bank (it was accurate). Do most of the bank coin machines take half dollars? I want to dump a bunch on Monday.

I, as a head teller, will give free wrappers to anyone who asks. We do not, however, accept customer rolled coin as we have a coin machine (which was seemingly overflowing with silver last week, BTW). All customer rolls must be unwrapped and dumped in to the machine. Yet the branch down the street that has no machine readily accepts customer rolled.

Yes.
Don't get the wrong impression though. Silver findings are usually pretty abysmal. We've just seen a bit of a lucky streak the last few weeks.

Some banks will even take a big sack of loose coin. That's how I did it, dump $500 bags of loose over the counter and get my cash back immediately. I'm sure some banks still give out paper rolls, but the last time I asked for paper rolls was back in the 90's.

I actually went to the bank last night to pick up $20 worth of nickels to peruse through and found I can just put them right back in the wrapper they came from. I asked the teller if they give free wrappers and she said she would but it seems like that will probably not be an issue :)

I understand HC, but if I'm gonna dream I might as well dream big...lol. I just picked up $740.00 in halves. Opened 4 rolls with nothing, but I got 70 more to go. Customer wrapped so hoping this is not someone's dumped halves.

I do mainly halves... since I moved to MS, I haven't found a bank with a free counting machine, so I re-wrap (I try to re-use the wrappers that I got the coins in if possible). Otherwise, they have been willing to give me some wrappers. Might even have to result to a coinstar, assuming I can get a gift card that is useful to me!
