Even when I was flipping coins on ebay, I never bought a single one which didn't interest me personally. It could be accurately said that I regret selling every single coin I've ever sold.

Quote: It could be accurately said that I regret selling every single coin I've ever sold. That pretty well sums up my feelings. I like coins, so it's never easy for me, especially for some errors when I know I can't ever get the exact same thing back. If there was some way for me to sell a bulk lot of rotten Zincolns, I would not regret that. I suppose if I had to pick one, I regret most selling the 1999-S LMC Close AM proof I cherrypicked off ebay (with some luck):

I sold earlier this year my whole collection of world coins. Nothing in it was that exceptional, just quite a vast spread. I had decided I couldn't do it justice, for it was too vast in dates, types, countries to really zero in on anything. My budget is limited and I desired to center in on US coins right now. Some of those, the special sets and the older coins I've thought of at times, especially some of the Chinese cash coins and Roman Imperials that now I'm beginning to get back into. The rest, not so much, it was a great time of learning, cataloging, organizing, but I needed to move elsewhere back then. I know they found a good home.

I know how you feel, Jon. I needed to raise a substantial amount of money to help with some family issues and sold almost my entire collection (would do it again in a heartbeat). The one coin I really miss was an 1885 Morgan ms64 dmpl that I saved for almost a year to purchase from Anaconda. Haven't seen another like it since, and doubt that I could afford it again if I ever found one.

There are only two coins I regret selling. I submitted both for public auction in 1987, because I was moving house. I needed the cash at the time.
The first coin? a 1923S SLQ, in VF35 condition. The price realised? U.S. $40, but that was about the correct price for it in the Australian auction scene at the time. If I had kept them both, they would still be in my collection today.
The second (Non U.S). coin? An electrum stater of Rheskuporus 11 (AD211- 228), of the Bosporus - in the reign of Caracalla. Value today? about $1,500. Disposed of in the same circumstances as the '23S SLQ.

After I inherited my grandfathers coin collection and before I joined CCF, my wife and I were in a bit of a financial bind and I took 2 quarter rolls, 1 marked 30's and 40's, and 1 marked 40's and 50's almong with two rolls of dimes marked 50's to the coin dealer that was literally across the street. He offered me $375 for all 4 rolls and I took it. I never even looked at any of the coins in the rolls, who knows what I had. That was eight months ago and I every day for doing it even though it helped us out of the bind we were in, I still wish I didn't get rid of them. That is when I came up with what is my signature below.

I don't regret selling any coins because that is against a true hoarders tendency. Sometimes I regret buying a coin because I discover something about it I don't like after I bought it. I even keep those.

I have more regrets about coins I passed on, but as far as selling, my only real regret was selling my 1877 IHC last year, which broke up my set. Happy to say I just bought another one. Whole again.

In 1995 I purchased the 4 coin gold set from the mint that included the 10th Anniversary 1995W silver eagle for $899. Sold the set in 2000 for $1,100. Sold basically everything in my collection that was expensive and quit collecting for 10 years. When I started catching up my collection of silver eagles let's just say I paid "plenty" to replace that 1995W.

I flipped this to make a $600 profit as I have a nicer 1800, but now I am interested in expanding into major die varieties and I have to go find one again.

I sold an AU-55 1920-S Gold eagle for what at the time seemed a good price ($11.5K) - biggest collecting mistake by far.
