Hi, I'm very new to collecting coins so this is probably silly, but I wanted to know if the flaw on this quarter is probably just damage or maybe an error. My camera isn't very good but I did my best. On the eagle's leg on the viewer's left, there is a big piece missing, almost up into the chest. What could this be?

Took a hit by something, screwdriver? Square and equal depth.

It looks like damage. Metal has been moved around on the coin's surface from contact.

I agree with Coop, There doesn't appear to be any "raised metal around" the area in question. A better picture would help. But keep in mind "to me" this isn't a high dollar coin!
