Went to the store and got my change, I said I don't care what you have I`ll take it it's all good not Knowing there was a Loonie misprint from the Mint with my Change till I got home.

My question is: I have personal never seen a misprint before and now seeing this one I am kinda curious as to want to know more about it and possible value so my Husband doesn't sell it for $5.00 or something stupid.

Here are the pictures I was able to take of it, if anyone has any knowledge please do not hesitate to tell me maybe even possibly a price eve :)

Thanks in advance for all help.

That is a Canadian Mint token, luckily you might get two bucks for it.

The mint issued tokens from 2004 to 2013 (the 2013 token did not have a date, but the new mint logo). They had various designs of coin reverses, 1c maple leaves, 5c polar bear, $2 polar bear and $1 loon. The older ones are more expensive. If your coin had any amount of circulation wear or marks, it is worth not more than $10.

This is getting better as the night goes on, as for what I have now learned in coins with people emailing me and here I have lots of new knowledge.

I wish to extend my Appreciation for helping me in my quest and wish to ask the Moderator of this Group to please Delete this post and I now consider it closed.

Sincerely;

Why would we delete it? CCF topics are searchable in Google, and if we leave it here, anyone else in the future who finds a similar coin will be able to find, and read this thread...

What was the purpose of these tokens? I never knew these existed.

These were primarily available as Mint Visitor Tokens. Visitors to the Ottawa and Winnipeg Mints could put money into a machine and watch the token get minted right there in front of them. I'm not sure if they still have these self-striking presses still set up.

The last time I was at the Winnipeg mint you could still make your won tokens there.
What is rather unique about htem, is that they do sometimes bear resomblance ot a circulation coin (on one side only), but never are the correct size/weight/shape of the coin they resemble - much like this "loonie".

I have never been interested in buying these myself.
