The only thing written on this coin's holder was Found 1-15-2000 so I took it out of the holder and found these two horizontal indentations on the jacket. I'm thinking maybe PSD from the coin ejection process?

Thoughts?

I believe that is part of the design for that year.

If it had anything to do with the strike, it would have had to have been foreign material in the strike.

I'm thinking it is simply PSD.

The other interesting thing to me was that he found it on 1/15/2000. I guess the mint must produce new coins the year before in some cases.

Coin looks normal to me, perhaps I'm looking at the wrong thing.

What made it special may well have been the info on the holder.
Very early in the year to find a current date coin

Oh my gosh, I'm so embarrassed! Clearly it was just the awareness of getting the coin so early in the year and the "horizontal indents" are the button hole and edge of the jacket collar!

I wondered if that and the edge of the collar lapel was what you were looking at. Don't be embarrassed at one time or another we all have done this. It is called learning. Now you know and everyone else will also. Now you can see the advantage of using extra large images to see what is really part of the design of the coin.

Don't be, when I first saw your coin, I thought it was damage, not the design.
