Ulysses S. Grant's HOF for Great Americans medal was sculpted by Thomas Hudson Jones and issued in 1963. Jones' most often seen work is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. In 1944,started work for the Institute of Heraldry in Washington, DC. He designed the Air Force Academy seal as well over 40 US military service medals including the World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.  Edited by cptbilly

Excellent medal, cptbilly! I dug out my California State Park tokens: Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park - Sesquicentennial of California State Parks 2014  South Carlsbad State Beach 2016 - probably a laundry or amusement token  Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Delaney's Bar - Across From the County Jail - Good For 25¢ In Trade (Saint Paul, Minnesota). 1.11 g, 26 mm. An incredibly rare fiber token from the World War II era. Brass tokens such as this were used in pinball machines and other amusement devices, often in support of illicit gambling activities. During the war brass was unavailable so manufacturers attempted to use other materials, but fiber was quite unsuitable for use in mechanical devices and token vending machines. Life was simpler when you could describe your business as "across from the county jail" and needn't bother with a street address. Very cool token, Hondo. Was Delaney's a Bar & Grill ?

Very nice, Hondo Boguss. That South Carlsbad State Beach 2016 token is showing severe Die Deterioration, on the obverse side. That die was pretty worn, when it struck that token. Errers and Varietys.

cptbilly, Delaney's was a bar. There was a tokencatalog listing for the brass version, but not the fiber one (fixed!). Incidentally, the brass listing was created by "delaneyjp" - possibly a relative? Errers, I'm not sure if the "orange peel" appearance is Die Deterioration or part of the design, as the reverse looks fine. However, the reverse die is a standard one that could have been swapped out when it got worn. I haven't been able to find another with which to compare it. I did find out that there are token-operated showers at SCSB (two minutes per token). Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
