New add. A bit worn, but glossy; graffiti on the reverse. These may have been tax protest tokens; the Bible verse referenced on the obverse (Luke 22:25) is the famous "Render unto Caesar..." passage.

1876 International Exhibition Memorial Medal Most of these are found holed. Independence Hall on the 1776 dated side and 1876 on the other and it was minted on the exposition grounds. I remember reading about medals that were struck on-site at the Exposition on a portable press in the Philadelphia Mint's Exhibit. Here's link to one of my posts about a ticket and information about this International Exposition in Philadelphia. http://goccf.com/t/32990&whichpage=243#2806615I have tickets to the event but didn't have a medal for 1876 and this will "fill the hole" as you guys know by now, I like these earlier Worlds Fair or Exposition medals. Rather have a worn one than a holed one any day.

I think the wear on that is very nice. And the ticket from the link is just beautiful.

Added this one at a small show recently. Elderly gentleman liquidating his items. Also picked up another SCD and a couple of HTTs from him.

Quote: Bump111 that is quite beautiful!! I agree and am happy to be looking after her. I'm a big fan of the items produced during the Art Nouveau period. Lots of detail and symbolism.
