1988-D Lincoln Cent Doubled Die Obverse ?

This is the same as you been posting for some time now. It is flat, shelf like reduced devices from Machine Doubling. A doubled die increases the size of the devices because of the hub doubling that makes the spread on the die.

Here is another side by side. 1982P-1DO-003:

Note the doubled dies are enlarged in size. The devices you are noticing are normal size, reduced with Machine Doubling making them actually smaller in width.

Yours are like the example on the left image below:

These are altered after the strike, making the devices smaller.
