2-1996 P Nickels Near Rim Question.

Both of these nickels have the same question. There appears to be a ridge just inside the rim that makes the letters almost fold over. The first one also may have reverse trail die. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The outside edge of the die may have been polished a bit make the field a little show on that outside ring of the die. Making the raised line on that area of the field. Looks like both dies were treated the same way. Or it may just be die wear on that area of the dies.

Around the rim looks like a worn die issue and the lines on the reverse look like die gouges,maybe feeder finger. Theres my 2 5 cents worth

Just another question that's been bugging me. When does a die gouge become valuable? A few to speak of the 05 Buffalo nickel,the Sacagawea dollar,the flying bird quarter. But most are not,Why?
