Yesterday my girlfriend bring home 2 rolls of quarters for the laundry. I look threw them as usual. Because lets face it one day right. Hope its mine. Ok 2017 D mint. $0.25 united states quarter. Possible error. Possible as if wash. Acquired coin out of batch of laundry quarter. Purchased at wells fargo. These were NOT!quarters that A previous customer made a deposit with. These were the mixed new minted and old ones. The sent back into circulation through the banks. Whatever. I hope because it a 2017. I'm thinking. Time is circulation is minimal. limiting potential fakes that may be out there no mention of this error anywhere for this year and mint. I have looked online nothing. I guess this type of error is really common and no on cares. Or its something I should seriously get looked at.My apology for my lack of coin verbiage. It's miss over 80% of the silver plating layer on both sides of the coin.

to the answer factory, where you usually don't get the answer you're looking for!

Not a "cladless" coin, it is just stained reddish. Probably a console cupholder coin, had a meeting with some acidic bubbly stuff! A coin missing clad is 1) usually only one side only! 2) the details would be indistinct because the stamping of a thinner coin doesn't force the metal into the die's devices. 3) if you look at the edge you will probably see some evidence of the "clad sandwich". Keep looking, learn what true errors are and how they come to be.

Rest in Peace

just toning. It's nearly impossible to tell why there is this color but it became "stained" after it left the mint.

Just to show you coins can develop a red toning from who knows where and doesn't mean the clad layer is missing. I found this nickel coin searching and it is obviously not clad.
