*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

attached are two images. the are taken with an inexpensive usb microscope. I realize the are more in focus on the right side of the coin, than the left side. after I upload these - I am going to try again with a camera. hopefully the pictures will be better than these. however if anyone can help with a grade opinion - it will be appreciated. the question in part has to do with the die state. there are at least three, and possibly a fourth die crack in the head area.

can this coin still receive a fairly high grade value -= even with the deteriorating die state?

AU-53 at most . A couple of Cracked Sculls and looks like a Poor Mans D/D . Not much value to speak of .

I suppose the grade could well be AU-58, but especially given the spotting and lack of eye appeal, I don't see any premium.

I really wasn't expecting a big premium. I'm just trying to get a reasonably accurate grade (given the deteriorating condition of the dies)

Again - thanks for looking.
Rest in Peace

Well it is circulated, too many hits and color changes, oxidation/spotting, AU58 is pretty much as high as it could go. Good example as a "cheater" filler in the Whitman albums 55 DDO spot...

From your pics I agree with T-BOP - AU53. I can only go by the pictures provided and can't say, Oh, I bet the pics made the coin look like this and if you had better lighting than it would be this......

For a LWC to get to AU-53, it would be brown.

Die state has NO effect on grade until you get to the 66+ level, even then, exceptions are made with the TPG's. It's actually more about eye appeal than the die state. Highly degraded dies can affect the graders eye appeal score - which is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the score.

Just a trace of wear, AU-58.

From those pictures, I would think AU-58.

thanks for taking time to look, and offer your opinions.
i DID take some regular camera photos of both sides of this coin... I am having difficulty cropping and editing the photos.

however - even though the camera photos more accurately reflect the color of the coin - the really don't much improved the view ability of the coin.

i have looked much more closely at the coin, and I agree that there is some slight wear showing on the cheek and beard. I agree with the concensus opinion.

thanks again for the opinions.
