I would appreciate any help on what to do with my old 10/- note from Down Under.

It is in a bad condition. I know it is still worth A$1 but I am not sure if it is worth any effort to sell it or send it onto my Aussie cousin to deposit into her account.

Would appreciate any idea.

I still cherish my Aussie $1 note for my aunt managed to get it for me a bit after they were taken out of circulation. That time I had no idea that a country could take a note or a coin out of circulation. Surprisingly it was in a very good condition. I am sure there are many Aussies who keep them as souvenirs, yes?

Looking forward to hear from your input on 10/- note,

Thank YOU in advance! :)

I have a few American One Dollar notes in average condition, and I have never bothered with their value, which I guess are only worth $1.

I just keep them for fun.
More bother than their worth to dispose of thoughtfully.

That is what I would do with an Aussie 10/- note in less than average condition, if I lived in the 'States.

A 10/- note is actually worth $1 by face value.

You could perhaps sell it on ebay for a few dollars but if it's really not worth much then you might as well just hang onto it.

MobofRoos,

Thanks for correcting me that it is worth $1, not 50 cents. For some reasons when I wrote my post, I was thinking in terms of UK pound and its decimal change. British 10/- changed to 50p.

My apologies!

Thank you for your input.

It does depend on what exactly you mean by "old". The final two series of 10/- notes, isued 1953-1966 with Flinders on one side and Parliament house on the other, are common enough and if worn or dirty they should probably be sent to the bank since no-one would want to pay more than a dollar for it.

Older notes, from the time of WWII and King George VI (which are more likely to be present in America, since so many American soldiers served over here during WWII) are more valuable and should never be banked unless they're literally coming apart, as you should be able to get at least a few dollars for them.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Sap,

I have a 10/- note from the common years you mentioned and a 10/- note from WWII era.

WWII era note is tatty and horrible yet 90% intact.

1950-1966 note is pretty circulated but not raggy like above.

Your thoughts/advice?

Thank YOU for your help in advance.
