Hmm weird, that should be silver, right? I do see that there were copper pattern 1/4 Bahts produced, but the design is slightly different. Maybe this is a fantasy strike?

I have the 1 Baht of this issue, which is very definitely a silver coin. If this is genuine, a big "if", it would have to be a trial strike.
One thing I can say is that it appears to have been perfectly struck in a collar. My 1 Baht specimen is imperfectly struck, & appears to have been struck without a collar ; I suspect, but cannot prove, that there was an extended period of "working up" to full production when the presses & dies (procured from Heatons, Birmingham, England) arrived in Bangkok.

could be a Chinese replica, because it does not fit with the real coins or the pattern strikes

davidc, I collect thai coins particularly the older ones, can you email me? I have a private question to ask you

As for authenticity, I would say send it in to NGC and see what the experts say. Raw coins like the rare 2 baht are easy targets by the Chinese, look at what they do to your australian 1967 swan pattern or the US morgans.

Hi davidc

Looks very much like pattern Pn13. I would give it for assessment by the gurus as Krause katalogue (2018) gives a price of USD 35,000

Image should be identical to standard Y#12 2 baht : silver, 30.2 grams (Krause 2018). Checkk it agains numisma /coin archives images.

Let's check the weight
copper SG is 8.96 and silver SG is 10.5. You need to adjust it for the fact that Y#12 is only 0.9 silver (0.1 copper assumed)
therefore the expected reduced weight shall be 30.2(0.9/(10.5/8.96+0.1) = 26.2 grams....
i have one similar and the weight is only 21.1 grams... i.e I colncluded mine to be a fake as it is lighter as most other Chinese counterfeits...
yours is 29 grams , i.e heavier so only the experts may be able to tell if fake or not...
