Just picked this one up for my Eastern split set..Nice chunk

New-Galerius-Follis-Antioch New-Galerius-Follis-Antioch

Galerius Maximianus as Caesar AE Follis minted 297 AD.

11,46 g. 25 mm.

Obv: GAL VAL MAXIMIANVS NOB CAES.

Laureate Head right

Rev: GENIO POPVLI ROMANI/ (crescent)/ D// ANT.

Genius standing left, holding cornucopiae and patera.

RIC VI 49b Antioch

From an old collection formed in the 1920s.

Ex Münzhandlung Kallai, Vienna.

There's no star above star in left field?
The only example in WildWinds has stars..

Any thoughts?

However, I wonder what is below the crescent moon on the right rec field. Square alpha with underscore? Side view of a picnic table? step ladder?

Your coin is RIC,VI,49b : with nothing in the left fielt , a crescent and an officina number in the right : your delta = 4th officina and the mint in exergue Ant ; The coin has been minted in AD 297 . albert

Thanks for the replies..

@antwerpen2306...Thats great thanks for the correct attribution I've updated the OP..I know this coin isn't rare but there are no examples on wildwinds should I contact them and give my coin as an example to increase their data base?

One other question ,when a coin is not shown on wildwinds is there a way of reading the RIC volumes online without having to pay?
