1958 Wheat Penny, Doubling? - Coin Community Forum

Shadow143 New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 12/04/2017 5:07 pm Hi everyone. I have no idea when it comes to coin collection. Can someone help me with this 1958 Wheat penny? When you look at the year 1958, #8 looks doubling to me. And also the word "in god" looks like double dies but not sure. This coins is a shiny brown or bronze in color. Is this coin has value? But judging by the die state what you see is Die Deterioration Doubling. A VLDS (very late die ste) can be seen by the devices moving outward. This is called die flow, is normal. The IGWT and L of LIBERTY are on the edge of the die. This movement stretches these elements causing the dies to form attrition (deteriorating) around them, appearing larger, reflecting light differently.
