What is/cause's this?

I really have no idea, but could it be deposits left over at the end of the scratches?

I'm looking at the RRC initials. That is something. I have a 96 with the RRC filled in a bit, but nothing like the mess these ones look like. The 96 has a tiny amount of build up at the beads, in the 2 o'clock position , but not as much. Nothing on the loons bill.

As for the cause, we need someone to fill us in. I like it, and thanks for posting it.

Not sure, I had some similar "trails" on an old nickel.it was suggested as Machine Doubling, but the defined lines coming off each bead does not look like doubling to me, more like scratch marks on the die.
