Ya know, I just can't remember what it was I used on that one....

Now why would anyone want to deface my birthyear coin like that! Shame on them!

Definitely hammered a few times, roughness on LIBERTY is a concrete floor

Yep, it is just damage, intentional or not. I can't say right off what the cause was but, I agree with Crazyb0 that the obverse damage around LIBERTY resembles a concrete floor, parking lot, cinder block, etc.

@Maynydine, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with the others that this damage came after this coin left the mint. It certainly looks like intentional damage as opposed to a counterstamp with some advertising or other purpose. I'm not sure what specific tool or object was hammered into the rev of this coin. As a Wheat cent, this coin would be worth a few cents, but this damage drops that back pretty close to face value.
