Deep scratches. You can see how the metal has been pushed to one side and the way the lines cross each other.
Damaged.

Maybe there's treasure in there!

It appears to have been sliced with a knife a couple times. NE to SW first, then NW to SE.

That was all the owner of the coin was worth after the market crashed, was a tad bit upset!

I suspect some do. They may be more interested in the accompanying exonumia, though.

There are many collectors specifically for depression era coins, myself included. While there are lots of tokens that were produced during the 1929-1935 period only a few hundred types were made because of that financial disaster.
