So, when the gifts already prepared, the Christmas trees decorated, discounts and sales in auto- dealerships ('End of year events') and still huge lines in the malls to the Santa, our Mint issued new release.
A lot of credits to the people from other resource, and Coins.4.Fun - we can view some coins and sets online.
Check out coins.4.fun listings and enjoy new coins.
**Silver Dollar - yes, some of you will buy it 'no meter what' **The Inukshuk makes its comeback as 1oz coin **Dragon Luck coin - very affordable (under 40) silver coin, very giftable **Northern Fury - very pay attention to this coin. My favorite, without plans to buy.
...and some others

Quote: **The Inukshuk makes its comeback as 1oz coin Looks like another Tony Bianco reverse design, wondering about mintage. The 2016 Gold Plated 1/2 ounce coin was 6,000. Selective gold plating same as on 2016 coin now in 1 ounce 38 mm format. Those who have 2016 coin and 2013 1/2 ounce O Canada Inukshuk may want this, but expensive. Wait for secondary market or strike while the iron is hot.

The RCM has added 2 more coins to it's January portfolio. Thanks to coins.4.fun for communication and showcasing: 2018 Glow-In-The-Dark Arctic Animal and Northern Lights-Polar BearNot bad, but it more like "painted effect", some people will like 2018 Thirteen Teachings From Grandmother Moon - Spirit MoonKind of "spiritual art" and very not bad But as per specs it is only 1/4oz , the art will be small.

I look forward to the RCM's January release each year as I know its flagship commemorative coin - the annual silver dollar - will be part of the new offering. As I've stated many times here on CCF, I like the traditional aspects of the commemorative SD series and enjoy adding new coins to my set. While the 240th anniversary is an odd anniversary to commemorate, the history behind the new Captain Cook at Nootka Sound SD is certainly worthy of being recalled with a coin. As in the past, I will be purchasing the individual proof and the selectively gold-plated piece in the silver proof set to keep my SD collection current and complete. I know it's likely that I will be able to purchase the coins at lower prices at some point in the future, but, for me, the few dollars saved are more than made up for by having the opportunity to enjoy the coins upon their release.

Jan 4-th, Thursday
People are awaiting and refreshing the Mint webpage. But there are no new coins?!
**Don't want to buy, but curious to see the pictures (all of them) Seems to be, demand is very low for the Mint products (except the circulation cash)

@Silveroid New coins are now available at RCM for viewing and purchasing for platinum prestige members only. Nothing really special except I do like the 1 oz. Pure Silver Gold Plated Piedfort - Timeless Icons: Caribou and I will probably pick up the circulation set along with the 2018 Gift Set Collection. Other than that same old stuff.

I received the email last night from my account Rep and the RCM Webpage has been updated with new coins under the Masters Club category. If the advance notice period is adhered to, the new coins will be on the main "new releases" page in 4 days.

With my 2018 New Year's Resolution firmly in the back of my mind, I have a hard time keeping to my resolve. I will be buying the annual 2018 proof set - but I hope at a later date for less then the new price of $234.95 (Why the price increase?) I liked the 'ancient Canada' series, for it's uniqueness..but again 1 ounce for $134.95 is steep. I'd buy the Innukshuk just because I like it, and of course the Piedfort - as I don't think I've missed one.
What does that put me up to....Master club status in one order - stupid money on this stuff. So, only one coin this time - the Piedfort. Resolution Adhered too.

Thank you, guys, for replies.
Yes, the Piedfort I want to see...
Hopefully, it will not like "icons" from previous year, where there is a Beaver on the Maple Leave background, but beaver is half flat and half 'normal'

@Dcadon ,@commems I agree with the comment on pricing. Silver appears to baseline around 5x bullion and gold at 1.5x bullion. That is a steep hill to climb. I also have a SD series stretching back to 1935 (the 1911 eluded me ) but if you look at last year, there were 7 different SDs (36mm variety) (2-Confederation coins one with gold plate, 4-150 coins with the number 150 emblazoned in red, gold or plain, 1- Coleville goose reissue) so it is not only the individual price, but the number of items needed to maintain a series. Understandably last year was an exception but even looking back to 2016, there were 4 separate 36mm SD designs. You have to look back to the year 2000 for the last time when there was only a proof and BU of the same design issued in the 36mm SD denomination. As of now, there are two Captain Cook SD varieties for 2018. Care to lay bets on how many more 36mm SDs will be released before year end? (I don't include Loon or Big Coin sized here)... I wager at least two more and probably three. I will maintain my SD series but I will watch for other coins showing up in the secondary market at a lower price point at the end of the year.

Quote:New coins are now available at RCM for viewing and purchasing for platinum prestige members only. Not only Prestige but also Platinum Plus available for viewing. I always find it odd that Platinum Plus get the same advanced warning and access as Prestige even though the threshold is 5000 difference. Prestige is $10,000 and PP is $5000.

@MoneyPenney Thanks for the clarification on the Master Club available for viewing sequence. I truly thought they were a day apart. Oh well it doesn't matter anymore as I will never purchase $10,000 worth of coins again. Coins are getting out of hand with pricing and same old stuff year after year. Example: Polar Bears, Gee wiz, give it a break already RCM. Plus , if you wait just a bit you're definitely going to get most coins at a lower cost down the line.

@jimper, I am with you regarding RCM coins. Pretty disappointed to find almost every coin I bought last year sold for a big discount during the Gatewest Coins Boxing Day sale. My Platinum Plus status will be expiring at the end of June and I won't miss it all. Higher MC tiers for spending $5,000 or $10,000 gets you a free coin, 1.5% or 2%, and one additional day over Platinum. Not worth it. CC&C give advance notice for VIP members but at lower tiers. You don't need to speed $5000 to get it. Spend $1500 for Gold VIP and you get same or faster advance notice. CC&C also got a points reward system and you get a free gift at the end of the year. I got the Glow-in-the Dark Animals in the Moonlight - Orca coin which retails for $189. A much better gift than the free MC Exclusive Lotus coin the RCM gives every year.
