Greetings,

Just looking to see if anyone can help me with information on the coins pictured. I know they are from the German town of Lahr and commemorate Storchenturm tower. All coins are stamped 986 which for gold is ducat fineness from what I can determine.

Any idea on when these would have been produced? There is not a lot of information from my research. Were they issued by the bank? They came in "Sparkasse Lahr" pouches. I was told these coins came from a military family for what that is worth.

Thanks in advance for any help. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

I do not know for sure, but my first guess is that they are commemorative / souvenir medalettes.

I guess issued for purchase to raise money, either a private issue or under the auspices of of the town of Lahr.

Perhaps you may search under Google Images, and visit the appropriate page,
or
a straight search on Google, using the information shown in your pictures.


I have successfully identified medals in this way, AND also determined their value.
