Found this looking through my stash of wheats. There are so many listings that look like mine, I'm not sure which one it is. Are there better methods to determine? Also, what program do I use to draw the lines to determine the MM position?

Thanks
Rest in Peace

Benja, I use MS Paint to draw lines on a leveled date pix. I also have Adobe Photoshop to modify, crop, rotate size, etc. You are quite right in the closeness of Mintmarks, especially on the rotated punch ones that have split serif! If the maker was good, he could place those marks in almost the exact places each time, and a slight twist on the second tap to set...bingo, an RPM. I'm fairly sure yours is the 1958d-1mm-050 as listed on coppercoins.com. Notice the two additional ones I worked up, looking closely at the vertical line intersecting the 9, and the horizontals on their width. Very close, but the differences can be seen.

Tootall, probably not the 020 on VV, MM isn't same shape, 020 has very pronounced splits, especially upper, OP does not. I Utilize coppercoins first, has cross reference for many, then use VV for further ID if no pix on CC or different die state. I go to wexler's last, just is easier on other sites.

Wow, thanks for the help Crazyb0. It really does look like 050. But what does it mean that it doesn't have the die markers? Just that it is an earlier die state?

Probably a MDS. The example is probably a LDS example. Just listed incorrectly.
