Hi, I have this penny that is 3 different colors and I wondered if it was anything interesting or just gunk. My first thought was that it got splashed with bleach or something, but the E Pluribus Unum is very neatly silver against a dark chocolate rim. The rest of the silver areas are kind of random but that wording seems too neat for a splash. I appreciate any answers to help me learn. Thank you!

to CCF. That is damage. Looks like a file was used on it. The diff colors are due to the depth of the filing. The silver color is zinc the bright copper color is light filing and the dark copper color is simple toning.Hope this helps some.
