Hi Folks,
I came over from Stamp Community Family (where I am a Moderator); as you guys probably know we get some 'cross over' between our hobbies when we purchase lots and collections.
I poked around with the text searches and image searches and could not find any information on this item. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

to Coin Community.

It's been along time since I've posted over in the stamp forum since I'm more into coins now and my collection is almost complete.
Rest in Peace

Gee, should we treat you like I was over there recently, like a dummy noob(why I asked to begin with) about my one stamp acquired in lot?

I won't, to the lighter side!

That's a provisional note. Not sure the issuer, but as is stated is a Bond, you get your money for it upon turn in. Script and coin were fighting back then, which did the public want? The gubmint was allowing certain banks to issue their own, acc to their own capital, businesses got in on it too. The silver lobby, because of the power players in the west with the mines(Comstock) were trying to hold on to the very lucrative gubmint contract. Interesting times. Moxking may know more about these.

Drove a 58 Steude from Columbia to Chicago in 1970, what a road trip!
Hood flew open at 65 near Cairo, spent the rest of the trip trying to keep my pants up because belt was used elsewhere! Girlfriend didn't mind...

It is not a note at all. It is an interest coupon from a US government bond. I will dig out my Hessler book later tonight to give you the bond issue. Based on the info on the bond it looks like it was issued in 1877. The coupon was the 27th of the coupons for quarterly interest.

Thank you all very much for the feedback; sharing knowledge is a very nice gift.

If anyone has any questions on philately please feel free to wander over to the stamp forum and/or contact me. I am also the owner/developer of a large philatelic website called Stamp Smarter (http://stampsmarter.com/). It is a non-commercial site dedicated to providing collectors with access to information which helps them identify and enjoy stamp collecting. (Note: it is a very large site with well over 1500 pages of content, lots of features, and many SQL based 'community projects' of things like censuses, albums, exhibits.)

At the bottom of the opening page there is an 'About me' which shows some of the Studebakers I have owned and restored.
Thanks once again,
Don

Good stuff!

I keep telling myself that I need to start looking at my old stamp collection more. Maybe in a few more years.
