Just curious if this Flaming serial $5 note is a type of error. I've seen many bills where one or two digits on the serial number that are darker/more ink than the rest, but the entire serial and both sets including the seal have way too much ink, is the first time for me.
I can assure you its not a fake. You can almost see the "5" watermark on the 3rd image. Upon you comment, I'm holding the bill right now and I can see how you came to that conclusion. LOL
I can't imagine why anyone would bother to counterfeit a $5 bill. But I don't see any colored threads in the paper. Maybe they are there but just don't show up in the pics.
Anyway, I think it is an interesting mess of a printing job and the numbers do look lie they have little flames.
No harm in keeping it. I think it is the messiest serial number I've ever seen.
I thought the title alone "The Flaming Serial" might fetch a nice premium LOL. I was hoping it was an error, over ink or bleeding through. I love error notes. It just prove that even our government can make a mistake. but if we the people make a mistake, they expect us to pay a fine. ....just sad
