I'm confused. Are you asking about the '71 or the '67?

The '67 shows what I consider to be a normal weight (0.08g underweight). The '71 is a little overweight, but is easily explicable by thick stock and/or Mint tolerance (0.11g overweight). Are you saying you think the '71-D is silver clad or that the '67 is CuNi clad?

If I follow, the 1967's SG is 9.36 and the 1971's is 9.3?

Yes sir I apologize I should have posted the pictures with the first posting. I was out of town and didn't have coin with me I just wanted to try to find out how to go about testing specific gravity so I could do it as soon as I got home. And yes sir I was wondering about the possibility of the 40% silver I had read the article regarding the coin certified in 2015. It's not that much money to send it in but if there's no upside to get it certified 1 gentleman at h a said it was worth $0.50 either way. I don't care about selling it but if it was rare as they said I was going to send it in to find out one way or the other I appreciate your input and taking the time to respond
Rest in Peace

Simply put, I'm not seeing or hearing about anything which is outside tolerance levels.

Yes sir the specific gravity 9.36 on 67 coin and 9.3 on the 71 and all the clad half-dollars I've weighed never had one over 11.3 so the 71 almost mirroring the 67 is it possible. This disscussion was addressed in 08 on this forum what I am asking is what path besides weight /sg/ would you follow short of sending it off Thanks
