No, not an Mint error. That "S" you see is probably Post Mint Damage. Also this coin is in very bad shape. Looks like it has been striped of its layer. Worth face value. By the way welcome to CCF! :)

@vanessaspgee, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with E&V that you don't have a mint error. There is some damage on the bridge of Jefferson's nose and then some additional damage near the tip of his nose that is roughly S-shaped. The dark color for this coin may be due to environmental exposure, but again, doesn't add to the coin's value.

The mark is incuse, so it's damaged. If it we an issue with a die, it would be raised. If it were a drop through error, there would be more of a rounded pattern of a letter, but it took whatever shape of the object that hit it. So it is PSD.
