Hey Guys, I had to clean this as the gunk was so thick I couldn't even read the date. What caught my attention was the word LIBERTY and the invisible rectangle it lives in was pronounced as if immune to the gunk. When I cleaned it, what looks like gouges appeared, like something going into the coin instead of coming out of it. It may mean nothing, but I had some fun with it. The black won't come off, shouldn't it be silvery inside?

The zinc zits popped.

Split plate error, thin plating cut by device edges, allowing corrosives in to zinc core. Another great American product biting the dust!

Nothing more than Zinc Rot from the Zinc core being exposed. Not an error coin. Worth face value.

Right, spend it before it rots away to nothing.

Mark, I have seen some with Zinc Rot so bad to the point where there was almost nothing left of it.
