So came across some Disney coins from a pawn shop that I regularly buy coins from. Then found several threads on CCF about counterfeit ones. My guy is asking $20 a piece for them. How can I tell if they are fake?

Compare those reported as fake and hopefully you can see the difference. Either that or hope the folks reporting the fakes reads this and answers with specifics.

Disney coins are frequently faked. I'd pass.

It is really hard to tell if these are fake. Compared to the real coins they look real enough. They would have come in a large purple case for all of the coins. 75th Anniversary of Mickey Mouse.

The pamphlet with the coins refers to "75 Years with MICKEY Silver Proof Medallions. Six of Mickey's Finest Film Moments".

Thanks! He did have a purple box (though I didn't examine it) and said it was originally a set of six but 2 were missing. In hand the weight felt right. I'll head back up there tomorrow with a magnet and a scale. These would make great Christmas gifts and $20 a coin is a good deal. I've found the complete set selling for $300 on ebay and individual coins for $60-$70. The other thing I noticed is there aren't very many of them for sale. Must be a low production issue.
